The German dual-training system - consisting of a state-recognised company-internal training and vocational college courses - has become a standard in almost all sectors of industry and trade. The catalogue introduces all 328 state-certified training professions in industry, trade, public service, agriculture and the so-called 'independent professions'. The individual profession profiles offer information about the duration of the training and training regulations. Information about professions currently at the trial phase and about repealed or modified professions can be found as well. The catalogue is published every year (since 2002) by the Federal Institute for Vocational Training (BIBB).
